The pikes really liked the Nils Master wobbler,
just as Strike Pro and Bomber. All pictures can be enlarged

INCREDIBLE PIKEBOOM!
Great fishing in lake Växnan.
One of these wonderful autumn fishingdays were a reality for
Roger Nilsson, Marko Grönholm and myself.
We caught 14 pikes, and the largest of them weighed 10,1 kilo!
We started the day with fishing in the deepest part of the
lake,
there pikes between 2-6 kilo
willingly took our lures. There where no sign of the Zanders
in the deep mysterious parts, and no large pike either.

Roger Nilsson guards the paravans. |
After a few hours
persistent fishing with leaded Bombers, deepgoing Strike Pro´s
and the largest Nils Masters, we understood that we needed
a new strategy. We skipped the lead and primed an explosive
charge
to catch the
grand old pike ladys! Now we were talking about unleaded Bombers
mod. 16A in all possible and unpossible colurs. No more Mr. nice
guy if you know what
I mean... And we cruised towards shallow waters.
Near a reef, at 4 meters depth,in the middle of the lake, the
big madam smacked her jaws in the most
colurful bombers of them all. A 20 minutes long fight started
with horrible rushes of the worst kind.
(mmmm....wonderful!)
When we finally succeeded to bring the pike in the boat, just
one hook remained intact. The other hooks had
came loose and were straightend out and many were curved in shapes
that least of all reminded of a hook.
|

14 times the rod were bent in a happy curve! |

A very happy Zander-grandpa
with a newly catched 10+ kilo Pike. It´s been a while
since the fisherman were on the right side of the 10-kiloline. |
The pike were in
fantastic condition. A fish with potential of being really,
really big!
The stomach seemed to contain something really square. Possibly
a big bream or a seabird.
Anyhow, we released the madam and wished for a date in the future.
The other 13 pikes were also carefully
released, and we hope that they will bite again next year. Considerable
heavier of course...!
Stay tuned! Film from the trip comes on the site shortly!
